We had an amazing time staying at HakoBA. We stayed in a private room on the dock side. The room was super cozy and comfy. All the amenities are very clean. The kitchen is AMAZING if you like to cook. The location couldn’t be better. The staff is incredible! The reception staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We truly felt welcome and at home. On top of it all, the design of the hotel is gorgeous. As someone who write about architecture and design, staying there was a delight.

Although the dormitory is more like a hostel, and is priced as such, the service is pretty exceptional, and feels like a hotel. The lobby has very professional receptionists who can speak English well. There are lots of amenities: chargers, razors, nightwear, cotton swabs, towel + face towel etc. If you want to stay near the bay, you cannot beat the location. It's right next to lots of food places and next to the water.

Everything about this place was spotless and accommodating. Sure, there are a lot of beds in the dorm room, but each compartment was quite private and cozy. Everyone was more or less respectful as far as noise. Even if the lights stayed on in the room, it would be dark in your compartment with the full curtains. Location is perfect. 20-25 minute walk from the train station or a few minutes on the easy to use and cheap tram. It's located practically on the waterfront close to the Red Brick Warehouses, a couple of Happy Pierrot (one is almost next door). It's a 5 minute walk to the grocery store and a 10 minute walk to the gondola to go up for the viewpoint. You can also hike up in about 40 minutes. Also very close to the bus that takes you to the ferry terminal.

The accomodation is very well located right next to the Kanemori warehouses and Lucky Pierrot. Beds were confortable and the place itself super well decorated. Rooms were quite big! The buildings were amazing filled with history, especially the Bank side. Laundry equipment was on top and easy to use!

Very clean and nicely accommodated. Fresh, clean towels are provided every day, tooth brushes, razors, hair brushes are for free. The lounges are comfortable, the personal always very helpful. Bus and tram stations, as well as shops and sightseeing spots (Kanemori Red Bricks, Museum of Northern People, Hakodate Magistrate, Meijikan) are within walking distance. The capsule beds are spacious and each has a safe installed above the bedside.

The staff was friendly and could speak English well. The insides of the Hotel are large which is unusual especially considering the price. There was a nice relaxing area and a modern clean kitchen space with a huge table. The terrace offered a great view. The dorm was very spacious, which made luggage deposition easy. Also the ventilation was good. I never felt like I was suffocating nor bathing due to high humidity. Amenities including sleep wear have been available for free. It’s in close proximity to the brick warehouses too. The toilets and shower where clean too. I was really surprised and can recommend.

The hostel is close to pier and warehouse tourist areas, and many good restaurants are nearby, Very convenient! Also, it is not far from Hakodate mountain cable car station and walk by 15 minutes to arrive. The hostel staff is very friendly and clearly introduce their facilities. The hostel common are is quite large and makes me feel relax and comfortable to stay. Also, the dormitory room is clean and the bed is comfortable. Best recommend for budgeted travelers to stay~~

This is the best balance between affordable and comfort, as it was only a liitle bit more expensive than a bed in a dormitory for one room for 2 people. It was very nice to have a room for ourself, and even if the shower and toilet are shared, there is at least a sink whish was very useful for toothbrushing and basic washes without having to go out the room. The room is also very big. The placement is very great as it is near all the interesting places to see in Hakodate by foot, except a little further from Goryokaku. Also, everything that is useful is available (pyjama, towels, toothbrushes, etc). The employees were also very polite with us!

The location is good, Hachiman-Zaka Slope, Red brick warehouse are just nearby. It’s also not too far from Hakodate JR station, even if you need to take tram or bus, the stops are not too far. The building is historic, lobby looks like hotel, there’s an elevator if you got heavy luggage. Restroom and shower are very clean.
